Former Pope Benedict XVI returns to the Vatican, will live in a monastery

Former Pope Benedict XVI moved from their temporary home at the papal summer residence in Castel Gandolfo near Rome back to the Vatican. After returning to the holy city, it will be the first time that the Vatican will live next to each other incumbent and former head of the Catholic Church.
In the summer residence of Castel Gandolfo, Benedict XVI resorted 28th February, when he resigned. Now he returns to the Vatican and will live in the monastery Mater Ecclesiae in the Vatican gardens. 
Monastery area of ​​about 400 square meters left in 1992 to build the Pope John Paul II. and yet it is the only monastery that exists in the Vatican. 
Since November last year, reconstructed, the ground floor had suffered the ravages of time and the humidity is signed on the windows and terrace.

This afternoon there Benedict XVI personally welcomed his successor, Pope Francis. 
Emeritus accompany the Pope to a new residence four nuns who still cared about Benedict's household, and his personal secretary.  
The monastery apartment is also available for guests who should use Benedict's brother Georg Ratzinger.
